What's included in a professional air conditioning service?

A standard service includes a full inspection, filter clean, mould treatment, dust-down of internal components, and an operational check to make sure everything is heating and cooling as it should. If we spot any emerging issues along the way, we’ll let you know before they become a bigger problem.

What are the signs my air conditioner or heat pump needs servicing?

Visible mould, musty smells, reduced airflow, or unusual noises are all signs your system needs attention. That said, most systems show no obvious signs at all – which is exactly why regular servicing is so important for keeping your air clean and healthy.

Can you repair or service air conditioning systems you didn't install?

Absolutely – we work on all makes and models regardless of who installed them, including all major brands like Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, and Panasonic. If you’ve moved into a new property or had work done elsewhere, we’re happy to pick up from there.

Do I need a qualified electrician to install a heat pump in New Zealand?

Yes – heat pump installations involve electrical wiring work that must legally be carried out by a registered electrician in New Zealand. At Positive Heat Pumps, all installations are completed by our qualified team, ensuring the work is safe, compliant, and won’t affect your warranty.

Can you install air conditioning in an older home?

Yes, we regularly install heat pumps and air conditioning systems in older homes throughout Whangārei and Northland. Our team is experienced in working around the unique considerations older properties can present and will recommend the best solution for your space.

What happens if my switchboard isn't up to standard?

On occasion, we may identify a switchboard compliance issue when quoting a heat pump installation – though this is relatively uncommon. As part of the wider Positive Electrical group, we can take care of any required upgrades and keep everything under one roof.

Do you handle council or other compliance requirements?

Yes! our Manager, Matt, holds current IQP (Independent Qualified Person) registration, which allows us to manage and sign off on BWOF (Building Warrant of Fitness) inspections and provide Producer Statements where required.
